Patrick Mouratoglou and the Path from Weakness to Strength
Every sport has its heroes and great names. Usually, the most famous and outstanding are the athletes themselves. But there are coaches as well, who are so good that they succeed in turning the best players into even more successful and complete champions. One of these great coaches is Patrick Mouratoglou.
I recently had the pleasure of watching a documentary about him on Netflix. It impressed me so much that I have watched the movie 5 times so far, and I do not repeat movies. The reason I did it was because Patrick's story inspired me a lot and because I found that our philosophy of life is quite similar. But how did Mouratoglou develop his philosophy?
Childhood
He grew up in a small French town and got interested in tennis when he was 4 years old. As a child Patrick hardly communicated with other children. In fact, he was so shy that he deliberately avoided them. Fearing that others would speak to him, he began to study their behavior and thus learned the importance of body language.
It took Patrick several years to deal with his fear of socializing with others. And in this time, his passion for tennis grew up as well. It was actually so big that he was one step away from the professional tennis. Influenced by his parents, however, the talented athlete decided to devote himself to education.
The Power of Passion
Patrick graduated university and started working for his father. But the pleasure of tennis was still incomparable to anything else. This led him to the most important decision in his life - to leave the family business and return to the game.
In 1996 Mouratoglou founds a tennis academy and sets a goal to help young athletes become professional players. In the new phase of his life, Patrick's greatest asset happens to be his ability to read body language. After years of fear of communicating with others, he has become an amazing communicator who manages to recognize the behavior of both his players and their opponents.
But Patrick goes even further. From the very beginning of his coaching career, he builds deep relationships with his players. And in tennis, as in life, this is priceless. The Coach gives a chance to many boys and girls to break into professional tennis and make their biggest dreams come true.
Today, Mouratoglou is the most influential tennis coach. His academy is the most popular in the world. And his nickname is THE COACH!
Mindset
Patrick Mouratoglou inspires with everything he does. He is a great example of how far we can go when we are so passionate about what we want.
His story is a proof that everything depends on us. We may find ourselves in a difficult situation and even fail at something. But we cannot allow this to determine who we are, because the most important thing is what we do in this difficult moment.
We can learn a lot, really a lot, by watching the movie about one of the most successful tennis coaches. But we can learn even more if we look at ourselves and our weaknesses. Because both Patrick and each of us have the opportunity to turn our worst weakness into our greatest strength.
